This growing community has many parks and open spaces, numerous transit options, plenty of recreation, popular restaurants, and some of the best housing options anywhere in the Tri-State Area.
Here are just some of the many reasons why people like you are choosing Weehawken as their new home.

All of New York City is at your fingertips when you live in Weehawken, as well as New Jersey communities on this side of the Hudson River. In fact, Port Imperial is one of the premier East Coast multi-modal transit hubs and offers ferry, light rail, and bus services. New Jersey Transit buses 23, 158, and 159 are available at the second stop from the Tonnelle Avenue, while the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail connects at the Port Imperial Station with quick access to Jersey City and Hoboken.
Many Weehawken residents take the ferry to commute to Manhattan because it’s an easy and scenic 10-minute ride. Meanwhile, we have an excellent bike sharing program in Weehawken to pedal your way around the NJ Gold Coast, and public parking spaces are available for cars.

The Port Imperial residences in Weehawken are havens for health that offer many wellness options, such as spin studios, yoga, pools, gyms, and kids’ playrooms. Outside our doors, you can get a great workout in at Club Pilates or Row House on Riverwalk Place, or end your day with a soothing massage at Spa Society.
Weehawken is also a top foodie destination that is the culinary home of many top chefs and discerning food lovers who are on top of the latest trends. Port Imperial residents love the diversity of dining options here, from brand-new establishments to franchise favorites, comfort foods, and quick bites.
For example, there’s Son Cubano for Cuban food and live music, Molos Restaurant for Greek and Mediterranean-inspired seafood with NYC skyline views, and Jack Austin’s for creative farm-to-table comfort food in a kid-friendly environment. Our Port Imperial residents love the authentic Texas barbecue of House of Que and meeting up for coffee at the Park Café. We also host many food-themed events in Weehawken throughout the year.
Top Schools in New Jersey
Weehawken has quickly become a popular place to live for young families with kids because of the safe environment, friendly and community-centered vibe, and highly rated educational resources. Children who live at Port Imperial can attend St. Joseph of the Palisades Elementary School, which offers preschool through eighth grade education and many ways for students and parents to get involved in the community.
Meanwhile, the Theodore Roosevelt School is within a 10-minute walk of Port Imperial properties, between 46th Street and Cooper Place and near Louisa Park. Technology is at the heart of this school’s comprehensive education program, and it also has a peer leadership program, D.A.R.E. curriculum, out-of-school trips, and an expanded care program. For younger children, Weehawken is home to the wonderful Sowing Seed Preschool & Daycare, which addresses the needs of the “whole” child and provides services from 7am to 7pm.
You’ll be in no shortage for great places to shop when you live in Weehawken because everything you need is just steps from home. We recently got our very own Whole Foods in Weehawken, which is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Our Whole Foods sells seasonal vegetables and fruit from local suppliers, has a great specialty cheese section, an in-house bakery, and full-service butcher and seafood departments.
For all your beer, wine, and spirits needs, Weehawken residents shop at Giannone Wine & Spirits. This store is conveniently located, has a huge selection, and offers great prices and sometimes special offers too. Some of our other favorite shops nearby are the local Ben & Jerry’s for ice cream, Starbucks for your essential morning coffee, and the ACME neighborhood market for fresh produce, a bakery, deli, and pharmacy too.
Weehawken can be as relaxing or as action-packed as you want it to be, but there are always some exciting events going on to choose from. One of our favorite events is Hudson Restaurant Week which involves around 50 local restaurants and a wide variety of cuisines to tempt your taste buds. In the fall, we love going to the Autumn Harvest Festival in North Park to enjoy the pumpkin patch, hayrides, live music, and delicious food.
You don’t want to miss the Port Imperial Food Truck Fest that has over 20 food vendors and a wine/beer garden. There’s also the Port Imperial Summer Movie Series on Wednesday nights and the group fitness classes offered for cardio, strength training, and Pilates.
Whether you live here or are just visiting, definitely don’t miss seeing the Hudson Riverfront 9/11 Memorial that commemorates the site where approximately 60,000 people were evacuated on the day of the September 11, 2001 attack.
